Description
Addiction 101 is a one-day workshop designed to increase awareness and reduce the stigma associated with addiction - both at work and in everyday life.
Our workshop
Get a better understanding of addiction and recovery, including the impact of trauma, and how the brain and body respond to addiction. Addiction 101 will give you strategies to support someone with addiction issues, while also looking after your own wellbeing.
Addiction 101 uses the Te Whare Tapa Whā model, which means we take an in-depth, holistic approach to understanding addiction and recovery.
- Recognise the impacts of addiction issues.
- Understand brain and body responses to addiction.
- Respond supportively to people experiencing addiction issues.
- Get practical strategies for self-care when you are a support person.
- Learn about trauma and co-existing problems.
- Recovery pathways and options.
- When and where to get expert help.
After the workshop, you’ll get help to apply your newfound knowledge and develop an even better understanding of what you’ve learnt with access to an interactive Addiction 101 e-learning module that can be completed at your own pace.
Note: Addiction 101 is aimed at non-clinical participants. This is not a clinical workforce training course.
Quality learning
We have a Category 1 External Evaluation and Review (EER) rating in education achievement and self-assessment issued by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
Addiction 101 PLUS is a NZQA-approved programme. Our other workshops are of the same educational style and quality but have not been quality-assured by NZQA.
E-learning
Participants will be invited to complete a short interactive e-learning 2 weeks after attending the workshop. These modules have been designed to reinforce some key learnings from the workshop.
Anytime, anywhere, and any industry
Addiction 101 is currently delivered to participants across New Zealand. It is fully funded by the Ministry of Health; there is no cost to participants. We can accommodate up to 25 attendees in each workshop, which runs from 9.00am – 4.30pm.
We can run workshops for a specific industry or workplace and will work with you to understand your industry and the people who will be attending.
